Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital is located at Guwahati, the gateway to the North-east. Pragjyotishpur which means “city of eastern lights,” is the ancient name of present-day Guwahati. It was the capital of the “Kamrupa Kingdom” which finds mention in the various mythological texts including Mahabharata and Kalika Purana.
