Pragjyotishpur medical college is affiliated with Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, which was established in 2009 through the enactment of "The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences Act, 2007." This university is the sole health-focused institution in the northeastern region and has jurisdiction over the entire state of Assam.
