The department plays a crucial role in shaping future healthcare professionals at Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Guwahati . Dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of individuals and communities in Assam through education, research, and service.

Core focus areas:

1. To provide comprehensive

training in community health, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, and health management etc. to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.

2. To conduct impactful

research addressing the public health challenges in the region.

3. To collaborate with local

communities and health authorities to implement effective preventive and promotive health programs.

Departmental Activities:

  1. Providing the best theoretical and practical education and training to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in the Medical College as well as in the RHTC and UHTC affiliated to the Medical College.

  2. Conducting community based field visits and surveys, organizing health camps, awareness programs and also participating in implementation of national health programs under  *Family Adoption Programs (FAP)*.

  3. Developing and implementing public health research projects.

The department aims to be a leading center for community medicine education and research, contributing to the improvement of the health status of the population in Assam and beyond and also to produce competent and compassionate healthcare professionals who are committed to serving the community.
