Department of Ophthalmology is an established branch in Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital, catering to high level of academic programmes, state of art and management of patients. It is a vital department in medical education, patient care and research, providing comprehensive ophthalmic training and services.

Objectives 
1) Education and training

-   Offers undergraduate (MBBS) programmers.

- Trains students in clinical examination techniques and management of eye diseases. 

- Provides exposure to advanced diagnostic tools and technologies for eye care.

2) Clinical services-

- Manages a wide range of ocular conditions including cataract, glaucoma, refractive errors, corneal and retinal diseases.

- Conducts ocular surgeries, both major and minor.

- Operates outpatient clinics and emergency eye care unit.

3) Community outreach

- Organizes eye camps and vision screening programmers in rural and remote areas.

4) Research

- Engages in research into various ophthalmic conditions. 

- Develops and evaluates innovative therapeutic approaches.

5) Promotes awareness about ocular health and prevention of blindness under NPCB & VI
